PM4 Performance MonitorPM4 Firmware

There are two current versions of PM4 Firmware:

  • Version 313 (released November 2010)
  • Version 26 (released November 2010)

Versions 26 and lower are for monitors with the original microprocessor. The microprocessor used in the original PM4s was discontinued by the manufacturer. In order to use a different microprocessor, Concept2 needed to redesign the PM4. The redesign did not alter functionality between PM4s using different microprocessors but did require a new firmware version.

The first PM4s to use the new microprocessor were put into circulation in June of 2008. These PM4s were released with PM4 Firmware Version 304. If your PM4 Firmware Version is 304 or higher, then PM4 Firmware Version 313 is the current version for your monitor. Otherwise, PM4 Firmware Version 26 is the current version for your monitor. The firmware versions are not interchangeable. That is, Firmware Version 303–313 will not work on a PM4 with Firmware Version 26 and lower, and vice versa.

PM3 MonitorPM3 Firmware

There are two current versions of PM3 Firmware:

  • Version 311 (released November 2010)
  • Version 105 (released February 2010)

Versions 105 and lower are for monitors with the original microprocessor. The microprocessor used in the original PM3s was discontinued by the manufacturer. In order to use a different microprocessor, Concept2 needed to redesign the PM3. The redesign did not alter functionality between PM3s using different microprocessors but did require a new firmware version.

The first PM3s to use the new microprocessor were put into circulation in September of 2008. These PM3s were released with PM3 Firmware Version 303. If your PM3 Firmware Version is 303 or higher, then PM3 Firmware Version 311 is the current version for your monitor. The firmware versions are not interchangeable. That is, Firmware Version 303–311 will not work on a PM3 with Firmware Version 105 and lower, and vice versa.

Concept2 Utility

The Concept2 Utility is software that allows you to manage the workout data on your Concept2 LogCard (LogCards are the smart cards that work with PM3 and PM4 monitors). With the Concept2 Utility you can backup your workout data, chart your progress, or analyze your historical performance.

Using the Concept2 Utility is easy: Once you’ve installed and are running the Concept2 Utility on your computer, simply plug your PM3 or PM4 into your computer using a USB cable, insert your LogCard into your PM3/PM4 and away you go! Using this method, the PM3/PM4 acts as a card reader and allows you to use the Concept2 Utility to work with the data on your LogCard.

If your computer is not located near your indoor rower, simply unplug the PM3/PM4 from the indoor rower, remove it from the monitor arm, and take it to your computer. When you are done using it as a card reader, return it to the indoor rower for your next workout. The Concept2 Utility is PC and Mac compatible.

You can perform the following functions with the Concept2 Utility:

  • Transfer LogCard Data from the LogCard to a spreadsheet or to your online logbook at concept2.com
  • Erase a user’s workouts
  • Delete a user from the LogCard
  • Move a user and their data to a different LogCard
  • Create a backup file for the LogCard
  • Transfer a backup file to a spreadsheet or to your online logbook at concept2.com
  • Restore LogCard data from a backup file
